durlum for Zaha Hadid's EXPO Bridge in Zaragoza
Zaragoza, capital of the Spanish region of Aragon, is the venue for EXPO
2008. The entire event covers the topic of water from both a constructional aspect and within the scope of discussions on water and sustainable development.
The EXPO
Bridge by Zaha Hadid is this year's highlight.
The bridge pavilion is an interactive exhibition area that doubles as the entrance to the EXPO
. The amazing complexity and distinct appearance of this structure bear testimony to the standards of an architectural icon.
Numerous lights and lighting systems from durlum help to accentuate the various areas of the bridge and form part of the bridge's overall design.
This project deploys durlum's philosophy of "point, line, surface" with the aim of demonstrating the effect of light. OMEGA lighting systems support spatial orientation and design. Points are used to accentuate the lighting of information
panels while surface lights are deployed to provide uniform lighting for other areas.
Together with the Bartenbach LichtLabor and Zaha Hadid's London office, durlum developed solutions to support the effect of this unique structure while highlighting its design features.
